Welcome to the Town hall and Roland Bremen UNESCO World Heritage Site
If you are visiting Bremen, the town hall and the Roland statue should be at the very top of your to-do list. This unique collection of cultural monuments was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004 and represents the desire of the people of Bremen for independence and sovereignty, a desire that dates back more than 600 years.
A tour of the historic town hall reveals magnificent halls and chambers and delicious treats. The upper town hall is adorned with works of art, rarities and four model ships suspended spectacularly from the ceiling, while the pure art nouveau Güldenkammer features impressive ornamental designs and gold-plated leather wallpaper. Underneath the town hall, the Ratskeller is home to the wine cellar and an impressive treasure chamber, and has been the perfect spot to savour a fine wine since 1409. You can enjoy the typical regional specialities and choose from an award-winning wine list boasting more than 650 wines.
Book a guided tour of the town hall online or in person at the Tourist-Info in the town centre.
