The magnificent Ludwigsburg Palace is one of the largest palaces in Europe that has been preserved in its original form—it’s no wonder it’s also called the “German Versailles”! It impresses with its imposing architecture and its location in the midst of the permanent “Blühendes Barock” garden exhibition
On a tour through the stately state rooms, you’ll experience an impressive journey through the ages, from opulent Baroque to whimsical Rococo and elegant Classicism. The Palace Theater is a one-of-a-kind attraction with its original stage machinery dating back to 1758—now unique in Europe.
Several museums and permanent exhibitions in the palace offer insights into the lifestyle of bygone eras. The Fashion Museum stages a fashion show featuring original clothing from the 18th to the 20th century, while the Ceramics Museum displays precious Ludwigsburg porcelain as well as contemporary artist ceramics. In the Children’s Kingdom, children ages four and up, accompanied by an adult, can experience the palace with all their senses! Here, visitors of all ages learn in a playful way what life at court was like nearly 300 years ago.
