The charming Mörike Museum, which showcases the work of Eduard Mörike in the former old schoolhouse of Cleversulzbach, was inaugurated in 1996 in the presence of prominent figures from the worlds of culture and politics. In 2004, two additional rooms in the front part of the old school were added to the museum. The Mörike Museum has enjoyed increasing popularity since its inauguration.
Visitors will find writings, poems, and drawings, as well as a range of everyday objects, such as Mörike's quill pen, light cleaning scissors, and drinking cup. A faithful copy of the old tower cock (the original is in the Schiller National Museum in Marbach) is also on display.
### Eduard Mörike Eduard Mörike was not only a German poet of the Swabian School and storyteller, but also a translator of Greek and Roman poetry. Many of his poems were set to music and made Mörike famous far beyond the borders of Germany. Eduard Mörike is considered one of the most important poets between Romanticism and Realism.
Born in Ludwigsburg in 1804, the poet and pastor Mörike found his first position as a pastor in Cleversulzbach after a restless eight-year vicariate – and finally found peace and security after a turbulent period of searching.
Mörike raved about Cleversulzbach in a letter from 1837: "The world still rests in the mist, the forests and meadows still dream, but soon you will see, when the veil falls, the blue sky unobstructed, the muted world flowing in brown gold, strong with autumn."
### Guided tours Guided tours are also available outside the opening hours of the Mörike Museum Cleversulzbach on the following topics: - Exhibition tour of the museum - Cleversulzbach village church and the graves of the poet's mothers Requests for guided tours can be made via the Neuenstadt am Kocher municipal administration, telephone 07139 9723
