Limes Museum Aalen UNESCO World Heritage

Welcome to Limes Museum Aalen UNESCO World Heritage

Would you like to experience the past up close and follow in the footsteps of the Romans? The Limes Museum provides a concise overview of Roman history and life along the Limes. As part of the World Heritage Site "Frontiers of the Roman Empire," the Limes in Aalen is of significant cultural and historical importance. The completely new permanent exhibition with over 1,200 original finds is presented in an expanded 1,500 m² exhibition area. The museum and archaeological park offer interesting insights into the era when Aalen was home to the largest Roman cavalry fort north of the Alps. The preserved foundation walls of the staff building and the reconstructed cavalry barracks bear witness to the size and influence of Roman power.
