Welcome to Seelbach

It withstood three sieges. But it was unable to withstand the French attack in 1689 - the imposing Hohengeroldseck castle ruins, tower over the Schutter and Kinzig valleys, visible from afar. Today the castle ruin is the landmark of the region and an exciting place to gain insights into the life and history of the Middle Ages.

The castle ruins can be walked along the 1.5-kilometre-long castle path, on the wayside of which the life of the chateau is told in a child-friendly way on notice boards and with figures from chainsaw art.

The adventure castle tour is quite authentic. Being welcomed with trumpet sounds, you can count on many surprises on your journey through the eventful history of the once mighty Earl of Geroldseck. Be witness to the sword fight between castle inhabitants or you are asked for alms by poor maidservants. A wonderful spectacle for the whole family!
