Surrounded by meadows, the Pilgrimage Church of Wilparting is visible from afar. With the alpine panorama in the background, Irschenberg’s small village church is a popular subject for photographs.

Ebrach Abbey was founded in 1127 as the first Cistercian monastery on the right bank of the Rhine and is one of the order’s most important Gothic buildings in Germany.

Straubing Zoo, located at the heart of the town’s park, has been welcoming visitors for over 80 years. Originally featuring only a small number of animals, the collection now comprises some 200 local and exotic species.

Altötting is a member of the Shrines of Europe, the most important Marian pilgrimage sites in Europe. The centre of the pilgrimage town is the small Chapel of Grace with its famous “Black Madonna”.

The Zugspitzland is part of the region of Werdenfelser Land and offers breathtaking views of the Wetterstein Mountains including the Alpspitze and Zugspitze.

What was once a brickyard is now the home of the Flintsbach Brick & Lime Museum in Winzer. The focus of this interactive museum is the interesting history of two building resources: bricks and lime.

The impressive Walhalla in Donaustauf is a national hall of fame featuring busts and commemorative plaques of important German individuals. Following 12 years of construction, it was opened by Ludwig I of Bavaria in 1842.

The combination of Regensburg’s wonderful old town and Stadtamhof Island has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006. Around 1000 historic buildings from every era tell the story of Regensburg’s 2000-year-old history.

Nestled between the Loisach and Isar rivers lies the rafting town of Wolfratshausen. Centuries ago, the combination of the two rivers and rafting as the most important means of transport helped it to prosperity.

The Main loop at Volkach is the only place along the river’s course featuring a bow-shaped meander. At the top of the bow is the wine town of Volkach.

Built from 1836 onwards, the Ludwig Canal connected the River Danube at Kelheim with the River Main at Bamberg until the middle of the 20th century. The 173-kilometre-long transportation route strengthened Bavaria‘s economic development.

Among beer enthusiasts, the suburb of Neuhaus in the town of Windischeschenbach is renowned for its Zoigl beer brewing tradition.

Bamberg enjoys international fame thanks to the Bamberg Symphony. The orchestra has acted as a worldwide cultural ambassador for Bavaria since 1946.

The zoological garden in Hof lies in a delightful location on the edge of the town park. Besides the numerous native and exotic animals the complex offers a wealth of clear information on natural history.

In the Hundshaupten Wildlife Park, you will encounter native and exotic wild animals and pets in wonderful natural surrounds. Besides the feeding and bird of prey shows, a further attraction is the adventure playground.
