Two popular holiday destinations in Upper Bavaria are the scenic regions of StarnbergAmmersee and Pfaffenwinkel. Both regions feature an attractive moorland and woodland landscape.

In the Nürnberger Land region, you will experience the diversity of Franconia in a very unique way. With four premium-grade footpaths and numerous cycle paths, the region presents itself as a true hiking and cycling paradise.

The natural landscape is the Rupertiwinkel region’s most beautiful attraction. Besides the impressive mountains such as the Högl and Teisenberg, there are many delightful woodlands, meadows and lakes.

Culture connoisseurs refer to the district of Günzburg as the Schwäbische Barockwinkel or Swabian Baroque Corner. It’s because many magnificent buildings of the Baroque era are characteristic of this central Swabian region.

The area of alpine uplands surrounding Füssen is called the Ostallgäuer Seenland or East Allgäu Lake District. The Forggensee is the largest lake while the Alatsee is shrouded in legends.

The Steigerwald region offers unique diversity in terms of landscapes, culture and cuisine. In addition to sunny vineyards, ancient forests and over 1,000 ponds, you will find Germany's oldest beech trees in the nature reserve.

Between the Rivers Isar and Loisach lies the Tölzer Land, a region that delights with idyllic woodlands, flowering meadows and fragrant herbs. The town of Bad Tölz is renowned for its healthy climate and picturesque old town.

Romantic Franconia is the largest holiday region in Franconia and combines two holiday landscapes, the Frankenhöhe nature reserve and the area along the Romantic Road.

Since 1989, sports enthusiasts from around the world have descended annually on the Triathlon Region of Rothsee in the Franconian Lake District. During June’s Memmert Rothsee Triathlon, records are set.

The Upper Main Jura tourism region also goes by the name of “God’s Garden” due to its breathtaking natural scenery. Rolling hills, forests and vast river wetlands characterise the region.

The Samerberg / Hochries region in the Chiemgau Alps is a paradise for hikers thanks to its unspoilt nature and a variety of footpaths.

The Werdenfelser Land’s two prominent landmarks are the ruins of Werdenfels Castle, the region’s namesake, and Germany’s highest peak, the 2962-metre-high Zugspitze.

The region of Wittelsbacher Land is the old Bavarian part of Bavarian Swabia and is renowned for its beautiful natural scenery with its rolling hills, romantic valleys and small streams.

The Zugspitzland is part of the region of Werdenfelser Land and offers breathtaking views of the Wetterstein Mountains including the Alpspitze and Zugspitze.

Thanks to its elaborate arched bridge architecture, the Albaufstieg is described as the most beautiful motorway section in Germany.
