The Upper Franconia Region of Delight certainly lives up to its name. With its 200 brewing establishments it has the highest concentration of breweries in the world.

Awaiting you in the Haßberge Nature Park is an almost untouched landscape, colourful mixed woodlands and historic vineyards. It’s no coincidence that the region is known as the “land of castles, palaces and ruins”.

The River Aisch stretches from its source near Marktbergel over a good 85 kilometres to Forchheim, where it joins the River Regnitz. With over 7,000 water meadows, it is the largest contiguous stretch of water meadows in Europe.

At the foot of the Hochfelln alpine skiing area lies the Bergener Moos nature reserve in the climatic health resort of Bergen. The largest litter meadow in the Chiemgau area is home to numerous plant and animal species.

The idyllic Upper Bavarian region of Hopfenland Hallertau is the largest hop-growing area in the world. Blossoming here for hundreds of years is the most Bavarian of all plants as it is the most important ingredient in beer.

The Carp Country region in the Central Upper Palatinate is renowned throughout Germany for its unique pond landscape and carp farming tradition that dates back almost 1000 years.

The natural landscape in Abbey Corner or Klosterwinkel ranges from gentle hills to dense forests. This Danube Valley region in Lower Bavaria contains six districts.

The garlic region between Nuremberg and Erlangen is one of the largest contiguous vegetable growing areas in Germany. On a tour of one of the farms you can discover more about vegetable growing and the produce.

The cultural landscape of Aying is a picturesque natural idyll. The area is a popular destination for hikers and cyclists with wonderful alpine views stretching as far as the Zugspitze.

The Rivers Main and Regnitz are at the heart of Franconia’s river paradise – an area of European natural heritage. The Mainaue leisure area close to Kulmbach, known locally as the Kieswäsch, is a real gem.

The enthralling Upper Palatinate Forest is considered a particularly diverse mountain range landscape. The Upper Palatinate lake region appeals to water sports enthusiasts.

The district of Upper Allgäu or Oberallgäu covers the southernmost part of the Allgäu region and is a magnet for nature lovers and active holidaymakers with its wonderful alpine scenery.

Covering the entire district of East Allgäu (Ostallgäu) is the Schlosspark or castle park, one of nine adventure areas in the Allgäu region. Imposing mountain scenery and numerous lakes paint a fantastical backdrop.

Between the Chiemgau Alps and Lake Chiemsee lies the idyllic Achental holiday region. Particularly popular is the 3-km-long footpath around the Taubensee, Germany’s highest lake.

The history of Randersacker is closely linked to the concept of the river Main and local stone masonry. The stonemasons' guild was once the most important alongside the winegrowers' and fishermen's trades.
