Welcome to Baroque Palace Mannheim
Want to feel like an elector for a day? At Mannheim Baroque Palace, that dream becomes a reality.
With its impressive scale, the majestic Mannheim Palace is the largest Baroque palace in Germany and the second-largest Baroque palace complex in Europe. Stroll through the vast courtyard of honor, marvel at the former state rooms and the palace church, or enjoy the lively student atmosphere of the University of Mannheim, which is housed in the palace.
The Palace Museum in the central wing, with its historic interiors, is a total work of art of European significance and “Mannheim’s living room.” The meticulously restored rooms, with over 800 exhibits, bear witness to the style and life of that era and briefly transport you to life at the electoral court, between the Knights’ Hall, the Ceremonial Staircase, and the Throne Room.
At the entrance to the courtyard of honor, on the right-hand side, stands the charming palace chapel. Heavily damaged during World War II, it was rebuilt and enchants visitors with its interior. This is also the final resting place of the Elector and his wife. The crypt can be viewed during special tours.
On select dates, the Mannheim Registry Office offers wedding ceremonies in the palace’s Trabantensaal. You can then celebrate in style in one of the magnificent rooms.
