The so-called Luther memorials were awarded the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 1996. In Wittenberg, these include the house of Philipp Melanchton, Martin Luther's most important comrade-in-arms, the home of the great reformer and the Wittenberg Castle Church, on whose portal Martin Luther is said to have posted his 95 theses over 500 years ago.
