The castle courtyard is freely accessible unless the castle is booked as an event location, which you can recognize by the closed castle gate. The view of the city is phenomenal!

Welcome to Stromburg

The history of the Stromburg can be traced back to its first mention in 1056.

Its first destruction dates back to 1116, when Archbishop Adalbert of Mainz had this royal castle destroyed right down to its foundation walls. It was rebuilt many years later. The Stromburg was the home and birthplace of the "German Michel", Hans Michael Elias of Obentraut (2.10.1574 - 25.10.1625).
