Stadtdenkmal Glückstadt
Glückstadt, situated on the banks of the Elbe, is a particularly outstanding urban monument. The foundation stone was laid in 1617 by Christian IV, King of Denmark and Duke of Schleswig and Holstein. The centre of the town is formed by the cobbled market square lined with historic buildings, from which the main streets radiate out in a star shape to the surrounding ramparts.
