The State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz - smac for short - presents around 300,000 years of history. The exhibition begins with the hunters and gatherers of the Stone Age. Europe's oldest wooden buildings then await you, before monasteries, mining and industrialisation take centre stage. One highlight is the "Floating Saxony Model". It shows the history of the Free State with impressive light and sound effects.
