Silberstadt Freiberg

Schlossplatz 6, 09599 Freiberg

Silberstadt Freiberg
As the name "Silver City" suggests, Freiberg was characterised by mining for a long time. Silver was mined there until 1970, with interruptions due to the war. The mine can be visited today as part of a guided tour, while the town museum presents the miners' equipment. Right next door, two organs by the famous instrument maker Gottfried Silbermann can be marvelled at in St. Mary's Cathedral.
