Residenzstadt Stolberg
Located in the southern Harz Mountains, the town of Stolberg once served as the residence of the Count of Stolberg of the same name. Numerous half-timbered houses in the late Gothic and Renaissance style and its historic town hall with market square make the town a popular destination for excursions. In 1993, Stolberg was awarded the title of "Historic European Town" due to its closed late medieval townscape.
