Plauen 7.10.1989 Friedliche Revolution
From 7 October 1989, Plauen was an important site of the Peaceful Revolution, which heralded the end of the GDR regime. On this day, the first major demonstration took place in front of Plauen town hall. Today, a monument designed by artist Peter Luban commemorates the event, which was attended by more than 10,000 demonstrators.
