Churches and abbeys
Kirchstraße 2, 72622 Nürtingen
Celts and Romans left their footprints, famous poets and artists have worked here. The Neckar city of Nürtingen impresses with a long city history and a picturesque old town.
The imposing landmark of the city is the Protestant city church St. Laurentius. For more than 500 years, the late-Gothic three-aisled hall church has been enthroned on the Schlossberg. Its 48-metre high tower hosts a special treasure. Halfway up is the tower library with books from the 16th to 19th centuries.
Volunteer tower guards regularly invite you to take a look around. Once you have climbed the 189 steps, the tower offers a magnificent panoramic view of the town and region between the Swabian Alb and the Neckar valley.
The visitor also learns exciting stories about old times and life in the tower. Until 1921 the last tower guard was on duty here.
