Magdeburger Börde
To the west of Magdeburg lies the Magdeburger Börde cultural landscape, which is criss-crossed by the rivers Bode, Aller and Saale. The region is particularly known for its fertile loess-black earth soils, on which sugar beet, wheat and rapeseed are traditionally grown. One highlight is the Große Wartberg, the highest natural elevation in the Magdeburger Börde. The Bismarck Tower, built in honour of the former Chancellor of the Reich, is located here.
