Klosterinsel Bordesholm

The monastery island of Bordesholm is located in Lake Bordesholm to the north of Neumünster. In the 14th cent. In the 16th century, the canons of the Augustinian monastery fortified the monastery island by building a dam. They then built Gothic-style monastery buildings and a church that has been preserved to this day and can be visited. The island's museum displays exhibits from Bordesholm's past.
