Classicism in Oldenburg goes back to Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig. In the 18th century, magnificent buildings were erected in the style of antiquity. This includes the Prinzenpalais, which is now used as an art museum. Another example of classicism is the Peter Friedrich Ludwig Hospital with its striking columns and strictly geometric façade.
