Usedom, Germany's second largest island, is famous for its spa architecture, which is characterised by magnificent villas from the imperial era. There are also around 42 kilometres of fine sandy beach and an average of around 1,900 hours of sunshine a year. Another feature is the dense tree population. This extends to the northern cliffs, while grassland and lakes dominate the interior of the island.
