Göttingen Universitätsstadt

Göttingen can look back on around 300 years of history as a university city. The mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss and the Grimm brothers studied at Georg August University, which was founded in 1737. Even older is the medieval town hall with its half-timbered architecture, which adorns the city centre alongside numerous historic churches. At Stadtwall, meanwhile, visitors can view Otto von Bismarck's student flat from the outside.
