Glockenstadt Apolda

Markt 1, 99510 Apolda

Glockenstadt Apolda
Bells have been cast in Apolda since 1722. One of them, St Peter's bell in Cologne Cathedral, was in use until the end of the 20th century. It is even the largest free-swinging bell in the world. Visitors can find out more about bells, woollen goods and textile machines at the GlockenStadtMuseum. An exhibition spans the arc from Apolda to the international bell and textile industry. You can also hear a carillon three times a day at the town hall.
