Friesland - Weites Land und Meer …an der Nordsee
The motto "Wide open land and sea on the North Sea" is the programme in Friesland. Large parts of the northern German landscape were reclaimed from the sea when dykes began to be built in the Middle Ages. The interior of the region attracts visitors with its moors, heaths and the Neuchâtel primeval forest, while the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea stretches off the coast.
