Boizenburg/Elbe was already founded in the 12th century. It has been known as a tile town for over 100 years. Particularly ornate versions in the Historicism and Art Deco styles are exhibited in the Tile Museum. Boizenburg is also famous for its well-preserved half-timbered houses and the lush ramparts around its old town centre.
