Dankern Castle can now look back on more than 500 years of history. The foundation stone for further positive development was laid in 1970 with the founding of the Schloss Dankern vacation center. Over the years, the Freiherr von Landsberg-Velen family has built up a wide range of adventure and vacation facilities, with over 150 play, leisure and sports facilities and more than 700 vacation homes for families with children.

The Schloss Dankern vacation center offers more than 200 play, leisure and sports facilities outdoors and under roofs, in the water and on land on around 200 hectares. The huge offer includes an inline skating facility, an indoor playground, a cinema, the leisure park, an adventure mini golf course, an outdoor pool, the Topas fun pool with a counter-current system and a total of 460 meters of water slides, a go-kart track, a high ropes course, pony rides without helmets and saddles as well as the Drago play castle, a knight's castle with over 100 devices for playing, climbing and sliding and the medieval Arkan castle with a roller coaster.

The most popular attraction in summer is, of course, the crystal-clear Dankernsee with its three-kilometre-long sandy beach and water sports facilities: from pedal boats to fast-paced water skiing.

The vacation center includes almost 800 vacation homes in various designs, sizes and with different facilities.
