Historic old towns
Rabegasse 1, 35305 Grünberg
It’s as if the lively town of Grünberg with its wonderful half-timber houses was designed especially for tours of its medieval old town. Not only will you gain an insight into the town’s exciting history when doing so, the winding, romantic alleyways are also perfect for strolling and whiling away time. Officially recognised for its healthy climate, the town’s famous landmark is the Diebsturm tower. Spectacular views of the Vogelsberg region stretching as far as Frankfurt and the Taunus hills can be enjoyed from here. A good excursion tip is the picturesque Brunnental with its nature trail and historic waterway. Thanks to the skills of Grünberg’s medieval craftsmen, spring water was being pumped uphill to the old town more than 600 years ago. Surrounded by countryside, yet only 5 minutes from the market square, this is also where the Grünberger Glücksweg begins. This 10km circular footpath will guide you through the scenic landscape of the Vogelsberg.
