Dorf Mecklenburg Wiege des Landes

Mecklenburg and its surrounding villages give their name to the landscape and the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was first mentioned in the 10th century and is therefore considered the "cradle of the country". The village arose from the ruins of a fortress that was destroyed in the 14th century. Today, visitors can see a historic windmill and the early Gothic village church.
