In the south-west of Mecklenburg lies the Lewitz, the largest contiguous meadow landscape in Germany at 16,000 hectares. As early as the early modern period, forestry caused the tree population here to shrink. Numerous waterways invite you to take boat trips and cycle tours along the banks. The Lewitz fish ponds nature reserve is home to numerous bird species, while the Friedrichsmoor hunting lodge boasts romantic half-timbered architecture.
