Burg Stolpen

Schloßstraße 10, 01833 Stolpen

Burg Stolpen
Stolpen Castle once became famous as the residence of Countess Cosel. A museum inside tells more about the eventful life of Augustus the Strong's mistress. A special feature is the basalt well, which reaches over 80 metres into the ground and ensured the water supply even when the castle was under siege. The torture chamber also illustrates the judicial system in the Middle Ages.
