Bach-Stammort Wechmar

Bachstraße 4, 99869 Günthersleben-Wechmar

Bach-Stammort Wechmar
The small town of Wechmar is known as the birthplace of Bach. It was here that the composer Johann Sebastian Bach once went in search of his roots and found his ancestor Veit Vitus Bach - a miller. Historians have established that his first place of musical activity was the Veit-Bach-Obermühle. Presumably he played his cistern to the beat of the mill wheels in the Bohlenstube.
