Altes Land

The "Altes Land" or “old country” is the name given to a region just outside Hamburg. Fruit growing has played an important role here for centuries, as visitors can still see today from the blossoming orchards where primarily apples but also pears, cherries, plums and damsons thrive. In addition, magnificently decorated half-timbered houses and the "Aurora" windmill in Jork bear witness to the legacy of Dutch settlers.
